Have Yourself a Meddie Little Christmas!
The men in blue from Bowdoin record landmark CD
The history of Meddiebemster albums has been a rich documentation of over 70's years of a cappella tradition. From 'Lazy Afternoon With the Meddies,' to the monumental 'Prime Cuts,' to the most recent 'Evening with the Meddiebempsters,' eras of Meddiebempsters have shown their versatility in singing style while maintaining professional blend.
But, while previous albums have been a compilation of a variety of musical styles, there has never been a seasonal or single themed Meddiebempster album. This year, after much prodding from beloved fans across the country, the Meddies are releasing 'Have Yourself a Meddie Little Christmas.'
The Meddies have been in the recording studio all November, and are recording tracks under the direction of music directors Michael Krohn M'09 and Chris Li M'11. With the expertise of friend and colleague Casey Later '09, the CD will include both four part arrangements of Holiday favourites, in addition to featuring soloists within the group. You can expect to find deep choral sounds in tracks like 'Lo' How a Rose E'er Blooming,' playful Meddie humour in 'The Grinch Song,' and heart warming solos on 'The Christmas Song' and 'Have Yourself a Meddie Little Christmas.'
The CD will be available for purchase shortly on our website, so check our our 'Recordings' section of the site to find CD order information. The CD will be ready for distribution by December 10th, but there is a limited printing, so order early (and often) !
The Meddies would like to thank everyone who has made this recording possible: Bowdoin College, the Bowdoin College Music Department, past generations of Meddiebempsters, our sound engineer Casey Latter, the managing director of Studzinski Hall Chris Watkinson, our families for their continued support in our music endeavors, and of course our faithful fans.
